Welcome to ICELAND NOIR -
A literary festival celebrating darkness in all its forms

Iceland Noir is held in Reykjavík at the darkest time of year. Founded by internationally bestselling authors Ragnar Jónasson and Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, the festival started as a celebration of crime fiction in 2013. Although the name has stayed the same, the festival has evolved and grown and we now welcome writers from many genres, and our programme includes events on film and television.

What brings everything together is the theme of darkness. . .

Iceland Noir 2023 will take place in Reykjavík from Wednesday 15th - Saturday 18th of November 2023 at venues in the centre of the city.

Smaller fringe events will take place in the city from Monday the 13th of November. As usual, the All Iceland literary sightseeing tour will take place on the Sunday. Booking information for this can be found here.
